‘Exceptional Scan Trainer’ supports basic training workshop at ISUOG World Congress

MedaPhor began this year’s ISUOG World Congress by supporting the Pre-Congress ‘Basic Training Course: A Practical Approach to the Ob/Gyn Ultrasound Examination’ with five ScanTrainer Transvaginal and Transabdominal simulators. This year’s course saw over 30 obstetricians, gynaecologists and residents from all over the world gather for two days of theoretical and practical ultrasound skills training.

MedaPhor’s role within the practical training session was to facilitate groups of ultrasound trainees rotating around five ScanTrainer workstations. Each station was dedicated to testing the trainees’ skills against the course’s key learning objectives which included; probe manipulation, first trimester, normal gynaecology, pathological gynaecology and fetal biometry.

Commenting on the use of ScanTrainer, Dr. Gihad Chalouhi, course director and member of ISUOG’s Clinical Standards Committee and ISUOG’s Basic Training Task Force, said:

“We chose to use ScanTrainer for this course because the real-feel haptic offers a totally unique and effective approach to learning ultrasound. The teaching content within ScanTrainer is exceptional and I believe that training using simulation should be compulsory for all basic ultrasound skills programmes.”

In preparation for the course, MedaPhor worked closely with course faculty to build two bespoke modules, designed specifically to align with the course teaching structure and objectives. Using content from ScanTrainer’s curriculum-based teaching modules, and case studies taken from the ScanTrainer Cloud Case Library, the modules covered core basic scanning and diagnostic skills.
