Intelligent Ultrasound Launches NeedleTrainer Portable

20th August 2024, Cardiff: Intelligent Ultrasound (IU) has further developed its NeedleTrainer platform – by putting it in a box! NeedleTrainer Portable has been launched into market today, in a bid to make this first-in-kind platform even more accessible to hospitals and training centers.

NeedleTrainer – IU’s all-in-one training solution to teach ultrasound-guided needling safely and effectively, using non-invasive needle insertion during real-time scanning on a real subject – is now available in a rugged transportation case. The portable solution measures 560 x 455 x 265mm in size, weighs just 15kg and is on wheels.

With all the same rich functionality as the full cart-based training platform, NeedleTrainer Portable has been developed based on existing customer feedback; to offer an even more versatile training solution, which can be transported across multiple sites.

NeedleTrainer Portable quickly follows the launch of version 2.6 of the technology, which expands learning across even more procedures via additional needle lengths and its new vascular access mode and e-learns.

Product Manager Ashton Evans commented “The recent launch of NeedleTrainer 2.6 has opened up the platform to allow training on even more ultrasound guided needing procedures. At a time when the demand for training in ultrasound guided needling is at a high, but budgets across many healthcare institutions is at a low, NeedleTrainer 2.6 allows hospitals and training facilities to get the very most out of their investment across multiple departments.”

Evans continued “NeedleTrainer Portable builds on this. By putting the technology in a robust, transportable case, the platform can be moved between sites, even put on planes, quickly and easily with no risk of damaging the equipment. NeedleTrainer can be shared across multiple departments to ensure institutions are fully leveraging their investment in our solution”.

NeedleTrainer has been one of IU’s star performers over the last 12 – 24 months with institutions including Health Education and Improvement WalesUniversity College London Hospital Einstein Healthcare Network and the University of Evansville all adopting the platform to meet training needs. The addition of a new portable option, alongside the existing cart-based system, would suggest continued take-up across even more institutions worldwide.
