‘One of the most difficult things for beginning sonographers to overcome is the cognitive disconnect between what they see on an ultrasound display and the reality of the 3 dimensional object that is the human body’, says Samuel Yoders, Director of the Cardiovascular Sonography Program.

Nova Southeastern University Tampa was one of the first to integrate the HeartWorks hi-fidelity simulator into an Allied Health Degree Program. ‘We believe this highly advanced simulator technology, will provide our students with a distinct advantage in their education and training over other courses in cardiovascular sonography’, continued Mr. Yoders.

‘The simulator’s unique combination of displaying an anatomically correct and beating heart in real-time synchronicity with its corresponding ultrasound view, presents students with a rich resource for practical learning. We believe that developing their skills on the HeartWorks system from the beginning of their echocardiography training will result in a higher quality educational experience for our students and ultimately improve their ability to provide the best care for their patients as they enter their new profession upon graduation.’
